Timberborn - How to get more beavers
In the game it is very important to have enough beavers. You have to make sure that you fill all the jobs. You start the game with 7 adults and four children. That's not enough, and you have to make sure you have a high population growth right from the start. Always keep in mind that the larger the population, the more water and food you need.
How beavers reproduce depends on the faction. Folkogons are a much better choice for beginners and increasing the population is the easiest.
How to increase the number of beavers for the Folktails faction
Folktails are the only faction you can play from the very beginning and expanding your population is quite easy. Your beavers simply need vacant houses. Don't count on the village's population to grow if there are homeless people in it. To ensure steady growth, make sure there are always a minimum of two available housing spaces.
A child can only appear if two beavers enter one house. Working on a 24-hour/day basis, increasing the population will not be possible, because the beavers will not enter the house.
How to increase the number of beavers for the Iron Teeth faction
More time and effort are needed to increase the population of Iron Teeths. It is necessary to build a Breeding Pod. The rule is simple - the more, the faster the growth.
One building costs 10 logs and will allow you to create one beaver every 5 days, as long as you have all the necessary resources supplied without interruption. For the entire period of 5 days, you need 5 Berries and 5 units of water. The beavers will supply raw materials after working hours, unless you have available unemployed people who can also do it during the day.
It's a good idea to have several of these buildings built and stop their production if the population is too high.
Note that this is the only faction that needs Berries. So don't remove the cuttings like you do for Folktails, otherwise the Iron Teeths may disappear.
How long does it take for a child to become an adult?
Children don't work, so just increasing fertility doesn't speed up the development of the village. It must take 5 days for the beaver to grow up and start working.
Because of this length of time, it is crucial to make sure there is adequate growth at the very beginning of the game.
How to reduce the beaver population?
Sometimes it can happen that you have, for example, 30 unemployed and your food and water supply disappears too quickly. It doesn't make much sense, so it's worth fixing this situation.
Folktails to increase their population need more houses, so just start demolishing them. Don't worry about some homeless people showing up.
In the case of the Ironborn, stop the work of the Breeding Pots.
This is enough to make the population decrease, because beavers die of old age over time. Since no babies are appearing their numbers will begin to decline.
Don't try to reduce food and water supplies, as you may end up with too drastic a population decline.
In addition, you can destroy more houses for both factions to increase the number of homeless people. Beavers without a roof over their heads live much shorter lives.
How to ensure that beavers live longer?
If beavers live longer, your population will expand faster and with less effort.
Providing water and food is essential. Even so, beavers will still die of old age sooner or later. You have a lot of influence over when that happens.
Click on the satisfaction panel of your beavers (top left corner) and you will see their needs. The more you satisfy them, the longer their lifespan will be. Only the feeding and home requirements are important.
Normally, one beaver lives about 40 days. Just provide it with a roof over its head and its lifespan will increase by an additional 20.
Providing beavers with all kinds of food, its lifespan can be even more than 100 days.
As you can see, the difference is significant. By extending the lifespan by almost 3 times, your village will prosper much more efficiently. Meeting all the needs also improves the statistics of your employees, so it's worth the effort.
