Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Unlocking Eivor's abilities

This guide for Assassin's Creed Valhalla contains information about unlocking abilities by the game hero. It shows the locations of the various Books of Knowledge from which Eivor gains abilities.

There are several interesting yet very useful abilities to acquire in the game. Eivor can use a total of eight, 4 of them are placed in the skill tree called ranged combat and another 4 in melee combat. The abilities that the character can acquire by finding books of knowledge are meant to introduce new fighting animations to the game, which cannot be found in the skill tree.

1 Rygjafylke Book of Knowledge (Norway)

Axe fury

At the beginning of the game in Norway there are three Books of Knowledge to acquire. The first of which is located in the southeastern part of Rygjafylke. In a cave with a fairly well-hidden entrance, you can find a book that will give our character the Axe Fury ability.

This is an ability that, when selected in the melee tree, gives the hero the ability to throw axes at several nearby enemies. Eivor can throw up to seven axes at as many as four enemies in open combat at one time.

Thorn of Slumber

The second Book of Knowledge can be found in a location south of Nottfall in Gryttirsand. After eliminating enemies, Eivor can find it in a tower standing in the settlement. After opening the chest and taking the learned book, this one gives the hero the ability Sleeping Thorn.

When this ability is selected in the Ranged Combat tree, it will enable Eivor to fire an arrow marked with the Svefn thorn symbol from his bow, which plunges enemies into sleep after a short while. This ability is very useful when you want to evade an enemy or perform a stealth kill on him, it also comes in handy when you are attacked by a larger number of enemies.

Rage of Helheim

The third and final Book of Knowledge at this stage of the game in Norway is located in the northern part of Rygjafylke right next to Kjotve Fortress. In this location you can come across a cave located under a waterfall, running inside you will find a chest and in it a book giving the ability of Rage of Helheim.

A useful ability when fighting strong opponents. We can use it, for example, in a boss fight, then Eivor goes into a rage and topples the opponent, inflicting the inevitable damage in the form of an avalanche of blows.

2 Ledecestrescire Book of Knowledge (England)

Focus of the Nornir

There are as many as four Books of Knowledge in the Ledecestrescire region of England. The first of these is the ability of the Focus of the Norn. In the southwestern part of the region is the settlement of Offchurch, in a small building there is a hidden exit leading to the learned book.

The ability is useful when you want to loot loot and not get into a fight. The hero aims his bow at the enemy at close range inflicting unavoidable damage. Eivor can quickly deprive enemies of life, while reaching hidden valuable chests in buildings sooner.

Harpoon Impalement

The second Book of Knowledge in the region is the Harpoon Impalement ability. It is located in the western part of the region very close to the viewpoint. The descent to the underworld must be sought in the ruins of a building, of which only tall columns remain.

When we use it, Eivor has the ability to attract an opponent with a harpoon from a few meters. If the opponent is weak it eliminates him immediately, and in case he has a higher level, we can inflict a lot of damage. Using this skill in the right place, creates a chance to drop an opponent from a height, such as from walls.

Raven distraction

The third book is located in the settlement of Tonnastadir. Getting it is quite problematic, because in order to take it you must first find the key, which is located in the stronghold. When Eivor enters the red zone, you may notice a closed wooden gate. With the key you acquired earlier, you are able to open it and acquire the ability Raven Diversion. 

The Raven Distraction ability make it easier in case you sneak into some building and want to distract the guard. Then our raven distracts the opponent, and Eivor can get rid of him or bypass him in peace.

Piercing shot

The fourth and final Book of Knowledge in Ledecestrescire is located in the Templebrough Stronghold. You can get to it during a certain mission, look around the entrance on the side of the castle and the chest is inside. 

The ability is useful in case Eivor wants to play medieval sniper. An arrow sent from a bow flies with tremendous speed and can pierce an enemy through and through, and can even crush a wall.

1 Grantebridgescire Book of Knowledge (England)

Mark of Death

In the Grantebridgescire region there are four learned books that you will have the opportunity to acquire. The first of these is the Mark of Death ability. The book is located in Meldeburne, but in order to get to the tower where the loot is located, you must first defeat the Pikinier and take the key from him.

The Mark of Death allows the hero to mark several enemies and fire arrows at all of them. It works great in a surprise attack when the enemies can't see you. We can then perfectly try on and fire deadly arrows.

Dive of the Valkyries

The second book is found in a cave near the Monastery on the island of Ely.

Dive of the Valkyries is a highly offensive skill capable of wreaking havoc on an enemy's health bar. Eivor jumps up and falls on the enemy along with his weapon held in his hand. It is one of the most effective abilities in the game, right next to harpoon piercing.

Incendiary Powder Trap

The third Book of Knowledge can be obtained in the heavily fortified settlement of Walden. It is well-staffed with enemies, so it's a good idea to prepare properly for this clash. After defeating the guards (unless you prefer to sneak in undetected), head to the church and you will find a book with the Trap ability with Incendiary Powder Trap.

This is a typical ability for stealth assassins, as we can sneak into a heavily guarded place and set it on fire with the guards standing there. From his bow, Eivor releases an arrow with a pouch attached, which contains dust that reacts to any movement, causing the place to burst into flames.

Rush & Bash

The last learned book in Grantebridgescire is located in Ravensburg Fort. To get behind the door where the item is hidden you must first find the guard with the key. Once Eivor eliminates him, he can freely open the door to the said book.

Rush & Bash is a brutal ability, Eivor thanks to the adrenaline collected beforehand charges at the enemy grabbing him, he can push him off the edge or throw him against the walls finally killing him with his weapon.
